SAHASRAR CHAKRA

This lotus of a thousand petals, or Cerebral plexus, is the Chakra where the Jivatma (individualised soul) and Prana (the life force or the vital bio-energy) reside when the yogi goes into Samadhi, the state of contemplation or super consciousness. This is also of the Paramshiva whom the Kundalini joins on being aroused from its slumber in the Mooladhara Chakra and led upwards piecing on its way all the Charka's up to the Vishuddhi Chakra (Pharyngeal plexus) and then taking the posterior route to the cerebrum where the Sahasrar Chakra is located. Its colour is Green, and it has thousand petals, governed by planet Mercury with residing male energy ParamShiva and the female goddess Siddhidatri.

KAMESHWARI CHAKRA

Being governed by a shadowing planet Ketu it is ignored by lots of healers and Yogi's this is also one of the most powerful of the lot. Kameshwari Chakra also governs the whole body. This chakra is situated just before the crown on top of the head. It has nine petals and is Infra Red in colour, with residing male energy is Shankar and the female goddess Mahagauri.

SOMA CHAKRA

Being governed by a shadowing planet Rahu it is ignored by lots of healers and Yogi's this is the most powerful of the lot. Soma Chakra governs the whole body. This chakra is situated in the forehead. It has twelve petals and is Ultra Violet in colour, with residing male energy is Shiva and the female goddess Kalratri. Mediating on this Chakra vanishes the negativities and brings clear visionary powers to transmute. And it corresponds to all the organs of the body.

AJNA CHAKRA

This chakra is known as Plexus of command, represents the all-powerful Mind, has two petals, and is located in the middle of the eyebrows, is Blue in colour with residing male energy Ardhanarishwar and the female goddess Katyayani. And is governed by planet Jupiter. And it corresponds to Eye and Pituitary Gland. It is this spot that is contemplated while undergoing the exercise of Pranayama. This is also the location of Gyana Chakshu (the Third Eye of knowledge), and contemplation here brings the Yogi wonderful psychic powers. Through this lotus the Yogi also receives instructions and commands from his Guru or teacher.

VISHUDDHI CHAKRA

Vishuddhi Chakra, also known as the Kantha Padma, is situated just behind the pit of the throat. It represents the element of space, has sixteen petals and is indigo in colour with residing male energy Sadashiva and the female goddess Skandamata. And is governed by planet Venus. And it corresponds to Blood Vessels, Lungs and Stomach. It is the centre of purity, and it is from this Chakra that the individual soul sees the Lord in the centre of the eyebrows and gets rid of the desires, diseases and ailments. By meditating here a Yogi can live a thousand years in eternal youth. In fact he is dead to the outside world and become absorbed in his inner life.

ANAHAT CHAKRA

This Chakra, represent the Air element, is situated in the region of the heart. Its colour is Violet, and it has twelve petals with residing male energy Ishandava and the female goddess Khushmanda. It is roughly equivalent to the Cardiac plexus of modern anatomy and is governed by planet Saturn. And it corresponds to Lungs, Vocal Cords, Trachea and Heart. In its close proximity lies the lower Manas Chakra, the centre of the lower mind. by contemplating on the Anahat Chakra a Yogi becomes clairvoyant, and clairaudient. He is able to see Adepts moving in the air and gains the power of travelling to any distance by mere exercise of his volition. Those are not introduced to the Sahasra Chakra (Cerebral plexus) or the Ajna Chakra (plexus of command) seek the lord in the Anahat Chakra in accordance with the instructions of the 'Geeta' wherein Lord Krishna says that he lives in the heart of all individuals.

MANIPUR CHAKRA

Its is situated in the region of the navel, consists of ten petals, represents the Fire element, and it is red in colour with residing male energy Rudra and the female goddess Chandraghanta. He who meditates on this Chakra acquires the power to enter into the body of another person, transmuting metals, healing the sick and clairvoyance are also attributed to contemplating on this Chakra. And it corresponds to Spleen, Pancreas, Gallbladder, Liver, Duodenum and Stomach. Its modern equivalent would be the Solar plexus and is governed by planet Sun.

SWADHISHTHAN CHAKRA

Its location is on a level with the root of the genitals. It is the bodily representative of the water elements, and consist of six petals. Its cosmic colour is Orange with residing male energy Vishnu and the female goddess Brahmacharani. By meditating on this Chakra, one may attain freedom from impending death and disease. And it corresponds to Male Organs, Bladder, Kidney Adrenal Grands and Large & Small Intestine. Its nearest equivalent in modern anatomy is the Hypogastric plexus and is governed by planet Moon.

MOOLADHARA CHAKRA

It is located at the base of the spine, has the shape of a triangle and consist of four petals. This chakra is the bodily representative of the Earth elements, and its Cosmic colour is Yellow with residing male energy Brahma and the female goddess Shailputri. Through meditation on this chakra one may attain cleverness and perfection in the arts of speech and writing. It also grants freedom from diseases and bestows upon the meditator several psyches powers inducing that of reading the past and the future. And it corresponds to Male Organs, Bladder, Kidney Adrenal Grands and Large & Small Intestine. In the term of modern anatomy it may be said to be the Pelvic plexus and is governed by planet Mars.
